Q: What do you enjoy the most about your job? Why?
A: My favorite part of working in IT is that I’m able to help someone in need. For a lot of people, their computer at work is like their central nervous system. It feels great to be a heroine who “saves the day” whenever I can help solve a tech problem. I also enjoy the role of a techie, trying out all the new technology that makes life so interesting.
Q: What do you enjoy the least about your job? Why?
A: The least enjoyable thing about my job is crawling under or behind a desk because it’s usually very dusty and dirty. In Hawaii it also means that it’s where the geckos, cockroaches, and spiders hang out. The dead ones pick places like that to rest in peace with all their friends and relatives.
Q: What is your biggest challenge in your job?
A: The biggest challenge in my job is keeping all the employees happy by being proactive in keeping their computers, phones, printers, faxes, etc. in good working condition so it doesn’t slow them down in completing their jobs.
Q: In your primary responsibilities at work, how do you use technology to improve or advance your organization?
A: For the majority of our clients, technology is often overwhelming and viewed as both a blessing and an irritation. I feel it has become my responsibility to be proactive in helping company employees utilize and take advantage of the countless opportunities technology has to offer. For example, I am helping to integrate a newly developed intranet site for company employees as well as developing a new company Internet site to facilitate access and communication.
Q: How do you “give back” to the community?
A: My goal is to fully integrate my beliefs and actions. A firm believer in service, I am a leader for my church organization that plans service-oriented activities. Our service projects range from helping doing yard work for the elderly to entertaining the elderly in care homes, as well as helping local farmers cultivate the land.
Q: If you could change one thing, what would it be and how would you do it?
A: An IT wish of mine would be if, once a month, I could choose to receive any newly released gadget or technological product. After all, I am a “techie!”
Q: If you weren't in the IT field, what other profession or career would you pursue? Why?
A: If I wasn’t in the IT field, I would be interested in pursuing a career in digital video editing. I enjoy working with video editing programs and the opportunity it brings to get creative and imaginative.
Q: Please tell me something unique about yourself.
A: Something about me that not too many people know about is that I’m a huge sports fan and I especially enjoy college football. I’m also champion of my online fantasy football and basketball leagues!
Q: Please tell me a memorable story.
