Father’s Day is coming up and it’s time to get him that perfect gift to show him you love and appreciate him for that post-spring break bailout during college. He’s shown you love, okay, tough love and how to change a tire, it’s time to give him some love back with a useful tech gadget.
Today we have the perfect father’s day gift guide– and don’t worry, we’ve got some that are cheap and affordable for those of you pinned down by this grueling economy – and some are somewhat expensive but practical for those who were lucky enough to bait and hook that promotion before 2008.
Let’s start off with the most affordable:
The first item we have here is this projection clock. We found this sleek one at Restoration Hardware. It projects the time, date and temperature on any wall or ceiling – making it easier for pops to see the time at night. It features a 180-degree tilting projection head and sets you back for just $39.
Now not to jump numbers too much here, but one camera that has been making headlines is the new Canon Powershot SD780 IS. This compact digital camera features 12.1 megapixels, HD video and weighs about four ounces. It comes in red, black, silver and gold and is priced at $279.00. The feature that is perfect for dad is that it’s ultracompact, making it easy to slip into his pocket during fishing trips and catching that prize fish or taking it along the golf course.
If your dad is an avid reader who just likes to stay home and indulge in a mystery novel or a scientific journal, check out Amazon’s latest six-inch wireless reading device. It allows him to bring his entire library with him. Priced at about $359.00, the Kindle2 weighs 10.2 ounces and holds approximately 1,500 titles. This device allows him to purchase books and download them in less than a minute – it also gives him the option to download newspapers and magazines before they hit newsstands. One thing that we got a kick out of was the screen – it reads like real paper, not like a regular computer screen - and the pictures are clear and sharp.
Lastly, we figured, why not save up and go for the juggler? Dad’s been there through the tough times and he sure needs a pricey but necessary gift that properly shows just how much you love him. As today’s golden pick, we chose Apple's latest 17-inch MacBook Pro. Keep dad connected and in tune with the world with awesome features such as the strong aluminum frame and a multi-touch track pad. It’s perfect if you live overseas, dad can video chat easily with its clear built-in camera via Skype or iChat.
