Amazon.com’s heavily promoted Kindle Fire tablet, which also received criticism from users and mixed reviews after its debut, is getting a software update for the holidays. The update is expected to come in less than two weeks.

A spokesperson for Amazon.com says the update will improve performance and touch screen navigation, as well as provide greater control over usage history. Released last month, the world’s largest online retailer quickly sold millions of units but users have been complaining about the small size screen, less-than-impressive browsing experience, external control issues, finicky touch screen and lack of privacy.

Despite all the concerns, the Kindle Fire is Amazon’s most successful product and experts predict a new version of the tablet is likely to be released sometime next year. The Kindle Fire is priced at a low $199.
