Hawaii-based Edutainment Resources, Inc. have just launched a new iPhone App called “Feed Me!” which is based on their ESL learning series ‘Pencilbot Kids’ and is aimed at a younger audience. Retailing on iTunes for $1.99, the application comes in several languages.
In an interview with ERI CEO Lishan Chong on hawaiiweblog.com, she said that the programs are designed to:
- Learn the basic knowledge – numbers, colors, shapes, patterns, etc.
- Apply what you learn – extend the basics by focusing on development of critical thinking skills from a very young age, not just compartmentalizing each subject
- Expose learners to multiple languages at a time when their minds are most receptive. There is much scientific research to support this and in my view it’s an increasing trend.
- This is not the company’s first foray into iPhone Apps, they released ‘Pencilbot ESL’ earlier this year.
