The Associated Press reports that the sixth president of the United States will soon be joining the Twittering population when bite-size entries from his diaries goes online courtesy the Massachusetts Historical Society starting August 5, 2009.
Society librarian Jeremy Dibbell told the AP that "When he's doing this it's not really for public consumption, although I think the Adamses kind of knew that what they were writing would be read for many years hence."
A sample tweet is dated August 6, 1809, while Adams was on a diplomatic trip to Russia: "Thick fog. Scanty Wind. On George's Bank. Lat: 42-34. Read Massillon's Careme Sermons 2 & 3. Ladies are Sick." The MHS will also provide a tracker of the trip.
The librarians at MHS say they hope to bring Adams' life into the 21st century and connect with a whole new generation.
