Topic: Community on the Web, Then, Now, and Tomorrow

Dan is the Marketing/Community Host for CivilBeat.com, a recent technology start-up that was launched in Honolulu by the founder of Ebay, Pierre Omidyar. Dan will be discussing the constantly evolving internet, where it came from and where it is going. He will focus on the trends on subscription based models, community development and social media, and the new trends we can expect to see in the future. Join us in this discussion on where the web is headed, and whether or not it needs some better direction. Disclosure: Analytics and statistics may be used to 'wow' you into submission.

Bio:

Before joining Civil Beat, Dan worked for the digital division of Anthology Marketing Group, Hawaii’s largest full service marketing agency. There he served as the Director of Digital Marketing where he focused on developing digital and community based solutions for his clients. Dan is an evangelist for technology and communication, and you can find him speaking or Tweeting about it in 140 characters or less.

Dan was born in NY and has studied around the globe in parts of New England, Sweden, and Australia. His past work included roles in the fitness industry as well as on Wall Street in the foreign exchange marketplace. Dan cannot stop exploring Hawaii, and when he’s not blogging about his adventures you can find him surfing waves, climbing mountains, and hiking off the beaten path.
